SEARCHING FOR THE NEW VOICE OF OTTAWA RADIO

We love radio just as much as we love Fashion! In fact, listening to the radio is the only thing that keeps us going during our heavy production days.

Our favourite radio station is on the search for a new morning show co-host, so of course we're tuned in... every step of the way.

If you think you got what it takes, read below to find more.

JUMP! 106.9 Hosting City-Wide Search for New Morning Show Co-Host and we wanted to share all the info with you.

OTTAWA (ON) – Breaking into the broadcasting world could mean years of studying, and taking on less-than-ideal positions in smaller markets, working to climb the proverbial corporate ladder.

JUMP! 106.9, a popular Ottawa radio station, however, is giving aspiring broadcasters the chance to achieve instant radio fame with the station’s “Greatest Gig On Earth,” a nine-week search for the new co-host of their morning show.

And while the search is a reflection of the station’s bold and vibrant image, the end result is a real full-time job, co-hosting alongside current morning show host Tony Stark.

“We’re looking for the fresh, new voice of Ottawa radio – someone the entire city will love listening to,” said Mark Dickie, general manager of Corus Radio Ottawa. “We’ve launched this search in hopes of finding a total radio newbie. We want teachers, dishwashers, bartenders, etc., to know they have a chance to be Tony Stark’s co-host on JUMP!’s Breakfast Show. No radio experience is required.”

The “Greatest Gig On Earth” launches Friday, March 6, at midnight, with the winner announced in May. The submission process is simple: upload a 90-second video of yourself to YouTube, and complete the entry form at www.jumpradio.ca.

According to Dickie, the advent of social media has opened the door to finding on-air talent in new, non-traditional ways.

“Interaction on social media and our station’s mobile application is tremendously important,” he said. “Over the nine-week period, applicants will be given a number of fun tasks to complete over social media, allowing us to get a true sense of their character.”

Video submissions will be accepted until noon on Thursday, April 2. The station will then narrow the entries down to 30, at which point the public will have the opportunity to vote online for their favourite(s), narrowing the field to 10. A live audition process will then whittle the participants down to 5 and 3, respectively, with the winner announced on-air on Friday, May 8.

The “Greatest Gig On Earth” is open to Canadian residents, 18 years of age and over. Full details can be found at www.jumpradio.ca.
